Managing Views
Introduction
Views are used to define what Inventory fields are presented at various times while using Profuturus. They are merely
a list of which fields can be displayed and in what order.
Creating a View
To create a new view, use the following steps :
- Click the "Create View" link in the Navigation Pane under the "Views" section.
- Enter a name for the "Name" text box
- Enter the number of fields the view will have in the "Number of Fields" box.
- Click "Go"
- You will be presented with a number of dropdown boxes. Select which field you want to be displayed in each entry.
- If you wish to add more fields, Select how many you want to add and click the "Add" button.
- When you are finished, click "Create". You will be redirected to the Modify Views page.
Modifying a View
To modify the Inventory fields that are displayed in a view, use the following steps :
- Click the "Modify View" link in the Navigation Pane under the "Views" section.
- Click the "Edit" button (second one in from the right) that is the the row for the view you wish to modify.
- You will be presented with a series of drop-down boxes that correspond to each field to be displayed. You can change
which field is displayed by selecting a different one from the list, or you can delete a field by selecting the last
item in the box "(Delete This Field)". Note that you can only change a field to one that is currently not being displayed.
- The order in which the fields are displayed can be changed by clicking the Up arrow to the left of the field or the
Down arrow to the right.
- New fields can be added to the end by selecting how many fields to add and clicking the "Add" button.
- When you are happy with how the view looks, click the "Update" button to save your changes.
Deleting a View
To delete a view, use the following steps:
- Click the "Modify View" link in the Navigation Pane under the "Views" section.
- Click the "Delete" button (first one in from the right) that is the the row for the view you wish to modify.
- Click the "Confirm Delete" button to delete the view
Setting How Views Are Used
After Defining several view, you can change which view is used for what purpose. There are four different places that any
specfic view can be used. These places are as follows :
Search | What fields are visible when you search for an Item |
Search Results | What fields appear when a search returns multiple items |
Create | What fields appear when creating a new item |
Edit | What fields are visible when looking at / modifying an item |

A view can also be used to when exporting a search, but that will be discussed in the "Searching and Exporting" page.
To set a view for a specfic use, follow these instructions:
- Click the "Modify View" link in the Navigation Pane under the "Views" section.
- The four columns to the right of each existing view's name are headed with what page they are used for. To set a view to be the one used for that page,
click the "Make Default" button in the corresponding column.
